Etsy fee changes, tracked

Etsy’s fees move, quietly, and calculators built last year keep using last year’s rates. This page holds the current UK rates and what changed. When Etsy moves again, it updates.

The changelog

22 June 2026 — regulatory operating fee: 0.32% → 0.48%

A 50% rise in the UK-only levy on item price plus postage. Small per order (about 5p on a £28.50 sale, before VAT), but it never stops, and weeks later many fee calculators were still using 0.32% or the original 0.25%. On a shop turning over £20,000 a year, the rise alone is roughly £38 incl. VAT.

Earlier — regulatory operating fee introduced, then raised

The fee arrived for UK sellers at 0.25% and later moved to 0.32%, where it sat until the June 2026 rise. If a calculator you use shows either old figure, its other numbers deserve suspicion too.

April 2022 — transaction fee: 5% → 6.5%

The big one. A 30% increase in Etsy’s core commission, applied to item price and postage alike. This is the change that turned “Etsy takes about 10%” into the 13–17% UK sellers actually pay once VAT on fees is counted.

2020 — Offsite Ads

Etsy began advertising sellers’ listings externally and charging 12–15% when those ads convert; mandatory above roughly £8,000 of sales in 12 months (Etsy sets the threshold at $10,000 USD), opt-out below it.
